Monique le Roux is the Chief Engineer at the Centre for Renewable and Sustainable Energy studies at Stellenbosch University. She has close to 20 years of experience in power systems engineering with a specific focus on operating grids with variable renewable generation. She has worked in various industries, including spending close to a decade at Eskom in planning and operations, as well as at the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research as a Senior Researcher. She also worked in private industry where she oversaw the grid connection of over 1GW of new generation capacity.
