Dr Kiruki holds a BSc and MSc in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Nairobi (UoN) and a PhD in Electrical and Space Engineering from Kyushu Institute of Technology, Japan. He is a lecturer at the Department of Electrical and Information Engineering, UoN.

At the CRSES, he is an Early Career Research Fellow under the African Research Universities Alliance (ARUA) Centre of Excellence in Energy. His current research area is on remote monitoring of microgrids and related renewable energy installations. His main expertise areas are in electronics, embedded systems, space technology, and power and energy systems.
